Diving Associations

The associations are made for purposes and are combined efforts of either group of people or group of companies like social welfare associations, academic associations and health associations. Similarly, there are sports associations too that deal with the various segments of the sports that need attention. Since diving has become the most popular water sport and almost all parts of the world has some sites and locations reserved for diving. The diving is a water sport and so there are many diving associations too. Here we are going to discuss some of the famous diving associations that are famous for its contribution in the field of diving.

The Association of Diving Contractors is also called ADC. It was founded in the year 1968, the association in the beginning had small group of companies to create a non- profit organization in order to dedicate to art and science of diving. The ADCI has more than 500 member companies now, providing services for safe underwater operations. Initially, the US companies were only the members of this association but later other 41 countries of the world also joined the association.

Most people use this cliché a lot ‘Where there is will there is a way’, but there are very few who actually prove it too. The Handicapped Scuba Association or HSA is an international training center in New Jersey is one of the example set by one of a believer of this cliché. It was founded in the year 1981 by Jim Gatacre. The HSA is considered as worlds leading authority on recreational diving for people with disabilities. This association has its headquarters in California and offers its underwater educational programs worldwide. The programs that are offered by HSA include Open Water Certification, Advanced Open Water Certifications, the Dive Buddy Program, and Instructor Training Course (ITC). All these programs are developed in coordination with the two major certifying agencies, the PADI and NAUI.

Some famous Scuba Diving Associations are, PADI the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, globally-known organization that offers courses from snorkeling to course director. The NAUI or National Association of Underwater Instructors is an organization with the mission to make the divers aware of the need for quality diving training and increased safety. The others include SSI the Scuba Schools international, the BSAC British Sub aqua Club and so many others worldwide.

The Professional Association of Diving Instructors PADI was founded in the year 1966 by john Cronin and Ralph Erikson. The PADI is considered as the world’s largest recreational diver membership and diver training organization. It has offices in Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom New Zealand and the United States of America. The Scuba Industry Trade Association, the goal of this association is to represent the manufacturers, distributors, retailers, training organizations, registered dive schools, dive boat charter operators, journals, travel organizations and recognized approved marine charities, relating to scuba industry. The Diving Equipment Manufacturing Association is another famous diving association.
